This is a book I wished I'd had when I started building...What differentiates this book from others of its ilk is that the author has gathered all this information in the field, interviewing carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and contractors, finding out what's important, what works, what's new. These guys love to talk about what they do well, and in this sense, the book is one of collective wisdom. About the Author
Michael Litchfield, a founding editor of Fine Homebuilding magazine, has been renovating homes or writing about them for almost 40 years. He was one of the first technical journalists to go to job sites to gather information from tradespeople. Litchfield's recent title, In-laws, Outlaws and Granny Flats was named one of the ""10 Best Design Books for 2011.""
